The concept is linked to the volcanic origins of the island of Terceira - the "Reserva Parcial da Serra de Santa Barbara" and the "Mistérios Negros". The top in the shape of the island, is formed with tubulars legs that form a volcanic cone and hints to the island's volcanic origins. The mesh of the different pastures, observed from the viewpoint of Serra do Cume, is represented in an abstract way on the surface of the table.
